A Halloween Message from Jeff Merkley

I got an email today from a friend in Oregon, demanding suggesting that I write about this here. And she’s not wrong — I’ve seen nothing about it, and Senator Merkley’s message is both clever and timely. Plus, she helpfully sent me the images, so all I had to do was redact her name.

By way of background, Jeff Merkley is the founder of a PAC called “Opportunity and Renewal PAC” that funds the Blue Wave Project. The project’s website describes its work this way:

Jeff Merkley’s Blue Wave Project is committed to bringing the power of a passionate grassroots movement to flip red seats to blue. We’re building the blue wave that will bring about a stronger, fairer America designed for “We the People” to thrive, not for the wealthy and powerful to get wealthier and more powerful.

The Blue Wave Project has been providing financial and logistical support to candidates in close races around the country. Now, as the election approaches, the Blue Wave Project is mobilizing to get out the vote in targeted areas, especially where Republican-held governor’s offices, control of state legislatures, and swing House seats are up for grabs.

Its list of “Candidates We Support” has a lot of names people here have been excited about. Caveat: I know nothing about the work of this PAC beyond its website content and the good name of Senator Merkley, so I present this in the spirit in which I received it: this is (imho) pretty funny. My purpose is not to endorse it or fund-raise for it.
