CALL TO ARMS: Get Jeff Merkley to be a Tad bit more Radical in his Fast track opposition

he's on the record against it: here's the letter...

Oregon's
Senator
Jeff
Merkley
Dear Paul,

Thank you for contacting me to share your concerns about granting fast-track trade negotiating authority for trade agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) or Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

As you know, Congress must approve any trade agreement before it can become law. Granting the President fast-track trade negotiating authority would expedite legislative procedures for any trade agreement the President sent to Congress. This would stop Congress from proposing amendments and would severely limit congressional debate and input into trade negotiations for deals. I share the concerns I have heard from many Oregonians that fast-track trade negotiating authority may not allow for adequate congressional oversight of trade agreements, especially given the unfortunate record of some trade agreements undermining American manufacturing and middle class jobs.

These concerns are made worse by the lack of transparency that has surrounded the TPP negotiations. I am troubled that the TPP is being negotiated in secret without sufficient input from Congress and the public and believe that consideration of fast-track should not come to the Senate floor before there has been a full opportunity for a robust public debate and feedback on the goals and scope of trade deals. A secretive process undermines the ability of our citizens and their representatives to influence the course of our nation's economic policymaking. Last year, I joined 11 of my Senate colleagues in expressing our concerns to the Senate Majority Leader and pushing for greater congressional input into any trade deals that come before us, and I will continue fighting to make trade negotiations more transparent.

Please know that I am committed to ensuring that America's trade relationships raise Americans' standard of living, support good-paying jobs here at home, and advance the growth of American businesses and workers. Thank you, again, for sharing your thoughts. I hope you will continue to send me your views and ideas.

All my best,

Jeffrey A. Merkley
United States Senator

But this isn't enough, we want to Ratchet up the pressure to escalate this opposition to a full scale filibuster.

Call Merkley It's really easy. Just let him or his staffer or if you need leave a message.  Tell him we know he's on the Record against the the Fast track now but that we want more we Strongly urge him to commit to filibustering it.

let him know we know Wyden is  the one for it and don't care if the oregon senators disagree and WANT the tension and that there's plenty of campaign contributions waiting for the kind of candidate that would be that brave.

Jeff
Merkley's number

let's make some noise to kill the Fast track.
